Study finance as part of your Bachelor of Business degree.
Finance is a dynamic field within the modern global economy. Professionals in this field could work with anyone from small private investors in a financial advising role to guiding large companies through the process of listing their shares on stock exchanges worldwide. While many jobs are in the private sector, you could equally work in public or non-government organisations (NGOs).
Part 1
You complete four core courses – refer to the Bachelor of Business overview.

You focus on three key areas: financial markets and institutions, investments and portfolio theory, and corporate finance.

Part 3
Workplace experience
The capstone project is the final part of your degree and takes place in your final semester. You can choose to work in an organisation of your choice, start your own venture or complete an applied project.

What will I learn?
In addition to achieving the broader outcomes of the Bachelor of Business, a graduate of the Finance major will be able to:
a. Demonstrate knowledge of finance theories and their application to businesses and financial markets. (Knowledge/Understanding)
b. Use self-directed learning to extend their understanding of finance theories and applications (Personal/Intellectual Autonomy; Skills/Application)
c. Consider the social impact of financial decisions. (Ethical/Professional Disposition)
d. Critically analyse issues in financial markets and corporations and recommend appropriate solutions. (Inquiry/Research/Creativity; Personal/Intellectual Autonomy)
e. Apply financial theories to address real world situations and demonstrate engagement with the finance and business communities. (Skills/Application; Communication)
f. Communicate effectively both individually and collaboratively, with a range of stakeholders in finance, business and society. (Communication)
<ul>
<li>Are under the age of 20 years; and</li>
<li>Are a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia; and</li>
<li>Don’t meet the University Entrance standard; and</li>
<li>Have received secondary schooling to at least New Zealand Year 12 level (or its equivalent overseas) and completed NCEA Level 2 endorsed with Merit or better. This should include at least 14 credits in each of 4 NCEA Level 2 subjects, at least 3 of which must be on the approved subject list; and</li>
<li>Meet the UE literacy and numeracy standards, or their equivalents; and</li>
<li>Have not completed Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school; or</li>
<li>Have undertaken study in Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school, but not attempted to qualify for University Entrance</li>
<li>Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must also be selected into the programme for which they have applied.</li><br>
<p>Australian applicants most recent schooling must have been in New Zealand.</p><br>
<p>Applicants who have undertaken Year 13 beyond 1 June in any year may not normally be eligible to apply in the same year but may be considered for mid-year admission in the following year.*</p><br>
