Bachelor of Business – Human Resource Management and Employment Relations (Level 7)
Human resources professionals are the oil between management and employees, ensuring that staff are productive, safe and developing as valued and skilled workers. Careers in human resources and employment relations encompass planning, recruitment, learning and development, health and safety, commercial law and employer/employee relations. A key aspect of this work is change management, as companies are constantly adapting to and influencing the environment in which they operate.
Part 1

Part 2
You gain an understanding of current employment issues including the complex relationships between employees, employers, government and trade unions, and internal and external factors that influence organisational behaviour.

Part 3
Workplace experience
The capstone project is the final part of your degree and takes place in your final semester. You can choose to work in an organisation of your choice or complete an applied project, bringing together your learning and gaining valuable experience.

What will I learn?
To achieving the broader outcomes of the Bachelor of Business, a graduate of the Human Resource Management and Employment Relations major will be able to:
a. Demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in the establishment and development of productive employer/employee relationships, and the importance of these relationships in achieving organisational objectives. (Knowledge/Understanding)
b. Critique and reflect on individual, organisational and national positons in human resource management and employment relations. (Personal/Intellectual Autonomy)
c. Reflect on the social/ethical aspects of relationships in the workplace and the impact this has on specialist human resource practices. (Inquiry/Research/Creativity; Ethical/Professional Disposition)
d. Research and analyse information from a wide range of sources. (Inquiry/Research/Creativity)
e. Apply relevant human resource management and employment relations theory/principles/frameworks in determining and harmonising employee and organisational needs. (Skills/Application)
f. Apply analytical and critical thinking in human resource management and employment relations processes. (Inquiry/Research/Creativity; Skills/Application)
g. Communicate effectively using appropriate verbal, written and presentation skills in a variety of critical contexts. (Communication

<li>Are under the age of 20 years; and</li>
<li>Are a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia; and</li>
<li>Don’t meet the University Entrance standard; and</li>
<li>Have received secondary schooling to at least New Zealand Year 12 level (or its equivalent overseas) and completed NCEA Level 2 endorsed with Merit or better. This should include at least 14 credits in each of 4 NCEA Level 2 subjects, at least 3 of which must be on the approved subject list; and</li>
<li>Meet the UE literacy and numeracy standards, or their equivalents; and</li>
<li>Have not completed Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school; or</li>
<li>Have undertaken study in Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school, but not attempted to qualify for University Entrance</li>
<li>Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must also be selected into the programme for which they have applied.</li><br>

<p>Applicants who have undertaken Year 13 beyond 1 June in any year may not normally be eligible to apply in the same year but may be considered for mid-year admission in the following year.*</p><br>
