Foundation Studies Programme

The Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme* is taught by UP International College New Zealand to prepare international students for entry into the Universities undergraduate courses.

The programme ensures you not only meet Victoria University of Wellington undergraduate course entry requirements but that you are fully prepared for the challenges of degree-level study. Classes are delivered by caring, highly-qualified teachers in a supportive and personalised learning environment.

University Pathways

Students who successfully complete a Foundation Studies programme are guaranteed entry to an appropriate Victoria University of Wellington undergraduate degree.

The top student each term completing Foundation Studies receives a NZ$5,000 scholarship towards tuition fees in the first year of their undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington.

Academic excellence
Partnered with Victoria University of Wellington, UP Education has been delivering the foundation programme for over 20 years. All teachers are trained and registered with the Teachers Council of New Zealand. We also place great emphasis on student welfare and ensure a high standard of care. Our dedicated staff are experienced in looking after the educational, practical and social needs of students.

Two offers of place from the start
Students who apply for the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme receive two offers of place: a letter of offer for Foundation Studies, and a conditional letter of offer for an undergraduate degree at the University. An unconditional offer of place is issued once you complete the programme and meet admission requirements.

Facilities
UP International College facilities include well equipped air-conditioned classrooms and computer laboratories and all students have access to the University library, learning centre and sports facilities.

Intakes and Fees

The Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme takes 6 to 18 months (two to six terms) to complete, depending on the student’s academic background and level of English.

Start Dates
These start dates include Orientation, which students must attend.

Other fees

A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15 percent is inclusive where applicable.

The New Zealand Government has imposed an international student levy on tuition and course-related fees. The levy is currently set at 0.50% of compulsory tuition fees for UP International College New Zealand.

UP International College campus is conveniently located in central Wellington, a short walk from Victoria University of Wellington, and close to public transport, accommodation, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Victoria foundation students have the same rights and privileges as other Victoria University of Wellington students*. Support services include student learning support, health service, counselling, financial advice and disabilities service. University facilities include a recreation centre, extensive libraries, cafes, bookshops and banking facilities, prayer rooms, student associations and more.

<p>Progression scholarships:</p>
<p>The following scholarships are exclusive to UP Foundation Studies students. They are
awarded towards the tuition fees of the first year of undergraduate degree study at
Victoria University of Wellington. Students will be assessed for these scholarships upon
their completion of the programme, and each student can only receive one of the
awards.</p><br>

<li>NZ$5,000 for a student with good academic grades who is involved in the extracurricular and community activities on offer by UP Education</li>
<li>NZ$5,000 for the top two academic performers in each graduating cohort</li>
<li>NZ$3,000 for the students who place third and fourth academically in each graduating cohort</li>
<li>NZ$500 for any student who achieves an overall score of 70 percent or higher.</li>
