This course is a level 4 Higher International Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering. The course is 120 credits, and is therefore benchmarked to the first year of a UK undergraduate degree.
This is an open course, meaning you will first learn the core maths, science, and design skills needed in engineering. You will then cover specialist units in manufacturing engineering such as Manufacturing Systems and Lean Manufacturing.
The course is delivered fully online, with no deadlines and no exams – meaning you can learn at a time and place that suits you!
Modules
The course is split into 6 equal units outlined below:
– Engineering Maths
– Engineering Design and Ethics
– Engineering Science
– Manufacturing Engineering Principles
– Manufacturing Systems and Lean Manufacturing
– + one option unit of your choice from a given list
Each unit is split into bite-size chunks using a mixture of reading, videos, worked examples, and practice questions to prepare you for the assignments.
Assignments/Tests
Each unit is assessed via assignments which you can complete in your own time.
What will I learn?
In this course you will learn about manufacturing engineering, from manufacturing systems and lean manufacturing, including process improvement techniques and lean tools such as PPM and TPM. You will also cover the principles of mechanical engineering, necessary for any manufacturing engineer. The course will cover the basics of machining principles. In addition, you will cover the fundamental maths and science that underpin engineering as a whole.
